Timeless wisdom for everyday life

Reconnect through the path of devotion

Bhakti Yoga is a holistic approach to living—bringing meditation, philosophy, relationships and practical service into a Krishna-centred life.

What is Bhakti Yoga?

Inspiring lifestyle choices, grounded in devotion

We are dedicated to helping people make inspiring lifestyle choices. Through mantra meditation, discussion and the ancient texts of India, Bhakti Yoga offers a practical way to reconnect with Krishna and bring spiritual awareness into modern life.

Every aspect of life affects our consciousness. You can begin at home with meditation and study, join a kirtan, attend a retreat, or learn practical skills that support a thoughtful and compassionate way of living.

Who we are

Jaya Sila Dasa and Vimala devi dasi

Jaya Sila and Vimala are the senior mentors of Bhakti Yoga New Zealand. They are committed to providing Krishna conscious parenting courses, relationship training seminars and education materials aimed at building a strong, family-centred Bhakti Yoga community.

Since taking their first steps on the path of Bhakti in 1975, they have worked together as a husband-and-wife team, raising their family and providing leadership for Bhakti Yoga communities in New Zealand and Australia. Their family also lived in India for six years, studying and practising Bhakti Yoga.

“Build a family-focused, Krishna-centred community that helps people live the kind of life they have always wanted, work together to accomplish great things, and remember that Sri Krishna makes it all possible.”

Our spiritual foundation

His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada

Srila Prabhupada was the foremost proponent of Krishna Consciousness in the modern age. Through his teaching, writing and personal example, he made loving devotion to Lord Krishna—Bhakti Yoga—available to people throughout the world.

He met his spiritual master, Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati, in Calcutta in 1922 and became his formally initiated disciple in 1933. Following his teacher’s request to share Vedic knowledge in English, Srila Prabhupada wrote and published throughout his life.

In September 1965 he travelled to the United States. He established the International Society for Krishna Consciousness in 1966 and guided its development into a worldwide community of temples, schools, farms and spiritual centres.

His most significant contribution is his books: authoritative translations and explanations of the Bhagavad-gita, Srimad-Bhagavatam and other Vedic classics. His writings continue to help people understand and practise Bhakti Yoga.
